Antoni Krajewski Museum in Lanckorona

At 133 Market Square in Lanckorona stands a wooden cottage housing the Antoni Krajewski Memorial Museum — one of the few buildings that survived the great fire of the town in the 19th century. The museum was founded in 1967 on the initiative of the Friends of Lanckorona Society with the participation of Professor Antoni Krajewski of Kraków, whose name it still bears.

Inside an old cottage

The display combines finds from excavations on the castle hill with objects from Lanckorona homes: farm tools, furniture, everyday utensils and folk handicraft from the early 20th century. A separate section is devoted to the Bar Confederation, and a scale model of Lanckorona before the fire shows the shape of a town you can no longer see. The documentation centre of the Lanckorona Ecomuseum operates alongside, and the museum sells regional handicraft and souvenirs.

A base for further walks

After your visit, the best spots of the area are within easy reach: the sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska lies about 4 km away, the castle in Sucha Beskidzka about 14 km. The wooden Market Square itself is worth a full circuit — the museum cottage is one of its most distinctive landmarks.

Admission is PLN 5 (reduced PLN 4). The museum is open Tuesday to Friday 10:00 am–4:00 pm, Saturdays and Sundays 10:00 am–5:00 pm, closed Mondays. Address: 133 Rynek, Lanckorona.
