Puck Marina

In February 1920 General Józef Haller threw a platinum ring into the Bay of Puck – this was Poland's symbolic "wedding to the sea". More than a century later Puck's quays bring together three worlds: a fishing harbour, a yacht port and a new marina opened on 22 July 2023. Together they offer 180 berths right in the town centre, on ul. Żeglarzy.

A port with a past

Puck was Poland's first naval port and, apart from Hel, the country's only seaport until 1926. The wedding to the sea took place here on 10 February 1920, and on 1 July 1920 a naval aviation base was set up – the Naval Air Squadron was stationed by the harbour basins until September 1939. West of the port you can still see the disused basins of the former seaplane airfield. In the 1970s traces of an early medieval harbour were found in the coastal waters. Every year on 28 June fishermen sail here after Mass in Kuźnica for the Fishermen's Sea Pilgrimage.

The new marina

The town signed the contract for the port extension with the NDI company in August 2021; the investment of over PLN 32.8 million was about 84% funded by the EU. It added part of the northern breakwater, a fixed pier 180 m long and three floating pontoons with power and water points. Work finished three months ahead of schedule. Today the port has 180 berths: 98 in the new marina (for yachts and passenger boats), 66 in the sports section and 16 in the historic fishing harbour. In 2025 Puck hosted the ILCA 4 youth European championships.

Facilities

The yacht section takes boats up to 20 m long with a draught of up to 2.8 m. It is sheltered to the west by a 190 m promenade pier and to the east by a breakwater (180 m), and the entrance is 30 m wide. The fishing basin has three quays (67, 40 and 74 m) and depths of 2.5–3.5 m; local fishing boats carry the registration PUC on their hulls. The port is also home to a Scout Sailing Centre with a fleet of yachts and a boatbuilding hall. Traffic is managed by the Puck harbour master.

Allow about an hour for a stroll along the quays and the pier – ideally towards evening, when the yachts return. Close to the fishing harbour stands the Gothic parish church of Saints Peter and Paul, and in town you will find the wedding-to-the-sea post and a monument to General Haller.
