Lesser Poland Wine Trail

The Lesser Poland Wine Trail connects vineyards scattered from the Kraków-Częstochowa Upland to the Ciężkowice Foothills. It was established in 2013 by the Gorce Tourism Organisation together with the regional authorities; at the start it grouped 15 vineyards, and by 2025 there were already about 60. The traditions of vine growing around Kraków go back to the Middle Ages, so the trail is a return to an old craft rather than an invention.

Vineyards worth a visit

Among the dozens of places, the Uroczysko vineyard in Janowice near Zakliczyn, Gródek in Zbyszyce, Talaska in Melsztyn and Dąbrówka in Dąbrówka Szczepanowska stand out. The vineyards cluster around Ojcowski National Park, Lake Rożnów and the Ciężkowice Foothills, with the castle in Melsztyn, the Stone Town in Ciężkowice or Lake Rożnów along the way.

Events and practice

The calendar is filled by Open Vineyard Days, the Vitis Musica festival at the Janowice vineyard or the Wianki event at the Dąbrówka vineyard. The trail also has a cycling variant: several dozen loops of 30–40 km with steep climbs, with electric bikes available for rent. For the promotion of the region the trail received the Mercurius Gedanensis distinction (2015) and the title of the most interesting tourist trail of Lesser Poland (2019).
