Silesian Amusement Park

Legendia is the oldest amusement park in Poland — it opened in 1959 as Śląskie Wesołe Miasteczko in Silesian Park in Chorzów. Since the 2017 season it has run under its current name after an extensive overhaul. Around 26 hectares of attractions laid out around the Koźlok pond make it one of the strongest reasons to visit the conurbation with children.

From funfair to theme park

For decades the "Wesołe Miasteczko" was shorthand for a Sunday outing in Silesia: wooden carousels, candy floss and rickety coasters. The turning point came with the 2017 rebranding — the park gained themed zones and a new signature roller coaster, the Lech Coaster, while older rides gradually gave way to new ones. It is a rare place remembered by three generations of the same family.

What you will find

The biggest draw is the roller coasters and water rides for teenagers, while younger children get their own areas with carousels and play zones. Paths between attractions run around the pond, in the shade of Silesian Park. The same complex also holds the planetarium and the Silesian Stadium, so you can easily plan a full day or a whole weekend.

Planning your visit

Set aside a full day: popular coasters can have long queues on weekends and holidays, so weekday mornings are calmest. The opening calendar changes across the season, so check hours on the official website before you come. Access is easy via the motorway and the public Silesian Park between Katowice and Chorzów.
