Church of the Visitation in Sucha Beskidzka

In the centre of Sucha Beskidzka, a few hundred metres from the Renaissance castle, two churches stand side by side: a 17th-century temple of the Canons Regular of the Lateran and an eclectic parish church designed by Teodor Talowski at the turn of the 20th century.

The foundation of Komorowski

The old church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary was raised in 1613–1614 with funds from Piotr Komorowski, then the owner of Sucha; the body is Gothic with Renaissance decorative elements. The consecration was performed in 1624 by Bishop Tomasz Oborski. The founder, who by account regained health through the intercession of St Stanisław Kazimierczyk, brought the canons from Kraków's Corpus Christi church — their former monastery is now the rectory.

Talowski rules the parish

The new church by Teodor Talowski was built in 1897–1908, financed by the Branicki family and the local railway workers. Its eclectic body combines Gothic with Romanesque. Inside: fragments of wall paintings, a Baroque Assumption image on the chancel vault, a sgraffito frieze, a gallery on four Ionic columns and six Rococo side altars.

The Komorowski crypt

Beneath the chancel of the old church lies the Komorowski family crypt — the founder rests there with his second wife Marianna née Bnińska. The complex: two churches, the monastery and four chapels.
