Guido Coal Mine in Zabrze

Guido Coal Mine in Zabrze takes visitors 320 metres underground to authentic workings, mining machinery and spaces connected with the history of coal extraction. This is not a museum with one hall: visits follow selected routes, always with a guide and at a scheduled time. The most distinctive addition is a ride on a suspended mining railway, available on selected tour variants.

What you see underground

The routes pass through 20th-century workings, demonstrate mining machinery and explain extraction technology. The complex also includes St Barbara’s Chapel. Check which ticket variant includes the railway ride, because programmes differ. Guido belongs to the Coal Mining Museum’s wider offer, which can be combined with other above-ground sites.

Visiting in practice

Descent and entry follow a timetable, so buying or reserving a ticket ahead is recommended. Arrive about 15 minutes before the meeting time. Underground temperatures are usually 12–16°C, so bring a warm layer and sturdy, comfortable shoes even in summer. Not every section is accessible to visitors with limited mobility; check your chosen route before purchase.
