Klimontów is a small town on the Sandomierz Upland, about 20 km west of Sandomierz, founded in 1604 by Jan Zbigniew Ossoliński. The poet Bruno Jasieński was born here. Its showpiece is the Baroque Collegiate Church of St Joseph with an elliptical nave ringed by galleries, and a few minutes away stands the former Dominican Church of Our Lady and St Hyacinth. Near the market square survives a Neoclassical synagogue of 1846–1851 with an Ionic portico. About 4 km east, in Ossolin, the lone arch of the bridge of the chancellor's former castle still spans a gully. Klimontów is for lovers of the Baroque and the quiet orchard landscapes of the Sandomierz region – just right for half a day.
