Lakes
Lake Międzybrodzkie was created by damming the Soła at Porąbka and lies between the slopes of the Little Beskids. The reservoir combines several types of outing: time by the water, water sports, a look at the dam and a mountain route to Mount Żar. It works well for half a day and also as a base for a longer stay in the Soła valley.
In summer, parts of the lake offer water recreation, including kayak, pedal-boat and sailing-boat rentals. Facilities are not the same around the entire shoreline. Choose a specific resort or village and check current opening hours, prices and equipment availability before travelling.
The area’s strongest advantage is the option to combine the lake with a climb to Mount Żar. From above, you can see the reservoirs and valleys of the Little Beskids; the mountain also has a viewpoint and a funicular railway. In Porąbka, stop by the dam, an important part of the Soła valley’s water-management history and a defining feature of the landscape.
For a short visit, combine the lakeshore, a viewpoint on Mount Żar and a walk by the dam. For a longer outing, choose one of the Little Beskids trails and allow for elevation gain and changing weather. Bathing areas, parking and water access vary by location, so check them before travelling and do not treat the whole shore as one beach.
