Experymentarium Science Centre in Łódź

Experymentarium is a Discovery Centre-style science centre in Łódź's Manufaktura complex, on the first floor of a building on the Manufaktura market square. There is one rule: you have to touch everything. The interactive exhibition has about 70 stations where physics, biology and geography turn into play for children and adults alike.

The interactive exhibition

The visit begins with the "Space tunnel" – a 6-m rotating tunnel decorated with fluorescent patterns. You stand on a stationary bridge while your brain insists the floor is moving. Further on you can explore how a Crookes radiometer, a Cartesian diver and Newton's cradle work. A big hit is the augmented-reality sandbox: as you move the sand, the model instantly shows water, lowlands, uplands and mountains in colour.

Lasers, VR and workshops

Next to the exhibition are the Arena Laser Games (laser tag) and VR goggles. The arena needs at least 2 players and takes up to 16, and every player must be at least 120 cm tall. Experymentarium also runs science workshops and shows, birthday parties and corporate events, and its Discovery Shop sells puzzles and educational toys.

Manufaktura as the backdrop

The centre is located in the former factory complex of Izrael Poznański, which stopped industrial production in 1997 and reopened after revitalisation on 17 May 2006. After your visit it is easy to continue to the Factory Museum, the eclectic Izrael Poznański Palace or the restaurants around the square.
