Dzielnica Filmowa (Film District), Zalesie Górne

A DeLorean of "Back to the Future" fame, a "Harry Potter"-style car, a Chevrolet Camaro and Thomas the Tank Engine — in Zalesie Górne near Warsaw there is a collection of more than 50 cars from films and cartoons. Dzielnica Filmowa (Film District) is a family theme park where film exhibits mix with playgrounds, carousels and a ball pit. It lies on the edge of Chojnów Landscape Park, so most of your time is spent outdoors.

Film exhibits

The film cars draw the most attention: the DeLorean, the Chevrolet Camaro and a car inspired by "Harry Potter". Alongside them stand film motorbikes, robots, Minions, dragons, film thrones and Thomas the Tank Engine, plus a plane and a helicopter. There is also a "film zoo" and a zone with musical instruments. Young explorers can follow the woodland Discovery trail with little figures made of acorns.

What to see and do

• Three carousels: a red Formula 1 car, teacups and butterflies, plus a fairy-tale plane and bumper cars.
• Playgrounds — an outdoor one with a sandpit and "building site", a mini playground with a plane and an indoor play area.
• A play hall with slides and a pool filled with thousands of coloured balls, plus a ball shower.
• A trampoline park with a jumping pillow.
• Fishing for toy fish, a building-block corner and a multimedia projector game played with a trackball instead of a mouse.

Did you know?

Zalesie Górne was founded in 1930 and lies within Chojnów Landscape Park, and Dzielnica Filmowa makes use of that forest setting — hence a nature trail next to the film cars. A restaurant and hotel operate next to the park, which makes it easy to plan a whole day here.

Tripto tip

The park is not open every day: the opening calendar on dzielnicafilmowa.pl lists days with hours of 10:00–18:00, 10:00–17:00 or 10:00–16:00, so check it before you go. Tickets are sold online through the service linked from the park's website; groups (schools, nurseries) book by phone (+48 722 22 70 12). With children, plan 3–4 hours, as there is a lot to do and part of it is outdoors — wear comfortable shoes and check the forecast. Zalesie Górne is in Piaseczno municipality and can also be reached by train: there is a Zalesie Górne stop on the Warsaw – Radom line. Address: ul. Wczasowa 1, 05-540 Zalesie Górne.
