Marshy Drwęca Valley

The Marshy Drwęca Valley is a Natura 2000 area in the Drwęca river valley near Brodnica. The easiest way to experience it is the short forest-nature trail in the Długi Most forest district, near Bobrowiska. The path runs through woodland to a wooden observation tower at the edge of the valley. It suits visitors who want a quiet walk combined with wetlands and birdwatching.

There is a parking area with a tourist shelter by the road, followed by a marked and hardened path. Information boards explain the valley’s natural features. From the wooden tower you can look over the Drwęca floodplains without entering the wet ground. Expect mud after rain and check the condition of the approach locally.

Wildlife and timing

The Marshy Drwęca Valley is a refuge for wetland and water birds, with some species present only during migration. Spring and autumn movements can be especially interesting for birdwatchers. Bring binoculars, stay on the path and avoid disturbing wildlife.

Getting there and practical details

From Brodnica, take Lidzbarska Street and turn into Krańcowa after the railway viaduct. An alternative approach starts at national road 15 near Tama Brodzka and continues along a gravel road, so drive carefully on the final section. The trail is free to visit and has a nature-site character rather than a ticket office or reception. Allow about 30–60 minutes for the walk, or longer with birdwatching. Leave the car by the shelter and wear footwear suitable for wet ground.
