Złote Tarasy

Next to Warszawa Centralna station, on Złota 59, stands a complex beneath a wave-shaped glass roof — one of the most recognisable contemporary structures in Warsaw. Złote Tarasy opened on 7 February 2007, after nearly 4.5 years of construction, and the investment was estimated at around PLN 1.5 billion. Beneath the roof lie 26 storeys, including the SkyLight tower, about 105 m tall.

What you will find inside

According to data from 2020, there were 200 shops as well as 30 restaurants, cafés and bars, plus space for events. The upper terraces offer views over the towers of the city centre.

Who designed it

The concept came from the California-based studio Jerde Partnership, the structural engineering was handled by Ove Arup, and Skanska managed construction for the investor ING Real Estate. In 2013 the city sold its remaining 23.15% stake for PLN 217.6 million — the owner today is Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield.

Why come here

For shopping and lunch, but also for a break from the rain while sightseeing — the entrance is right by the station. Złote Tarasy works as a link between travel and the city centre: step off the train and within a few minutes you are sitting in a café under the glass wave of the roof.
