Museums
Susiec, Lublin
In Oseredek, a village adjoining Susiec, you will find the only firefighting museum in the Lublin province. It holds nearly 500 exhibits – from hand-operated and horse-drawn fire pumps to the fire engine the museum's founder once drove to emergencies.
The collection was put together by Jan Łasocha, a retired senior fire officer who founded the museum and was its curator for many years. The museum is in the centre of the village, next to the volunteer fire brigade (OSP). Volunteer fire brigades are an important part of village life in the Susiec area: local units celebrate 60th and 90th anniversaries, and the brigade in nearby Nowiny marked its centenary in 2026. The municipality also organises firefighting knowledge contests and fire-sport competitions.
Opening hours are not published on the municipality's website and the museum's old website no longer works, so call the Susiec municipal office (tel. +48 84 665 48 93) before you go to confirm when you can visit. Allow 30–60 minutes. The museum is a good option for a rainy day, especially with children. Oseredek merges directly with Susiec, so you can easily combine your visit with the Czartowe Pole reserve and the Nowiny quarry to the west, or with the observation tower and the Kargul and Pawlak statues in Susiec.
