Maków Podhalański is a small town in the Skawa valley in the Maków Beskids, known for its white Maków embroidery and the poppy in its coat of arms. On the green market square a bronze embroiderer sits by the Coat-of-Arms Fountain, and a few minutes away, in the Paczosówka villa, the Regional Chamber shows embroidery and mementoes of the town's past. In the centre stands the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Maków, whose venerated painting was crowned in 1979. Trails lead from town up Makowska Góra and on into the Beskids. Maków makes a calm stop on the way to Babia Góra or Sucha Beskidzka.
