Lakes
Otmuchów Lake is an artificial reservoir on the Nysa Kłodzka, between Otmuchów and Paczków. It combines flood storage, energy production, fishing and recreation, while its broad water surface and open shores create a distinctive landscape on the foothills of the Sudetes. It suits visitors looking for water, space and birdwatching rather than a uniformly developed resort.
The reservoir lies within the Otmuchów–Nysa Protected Landscape Area and the Natura 2000 “Otmuchów Reservoir” bird-protection site. Water and marsh birds can be seen from quieter stretches of shore, especially at the right time of day. The attraction is the combination of open water, visible water-management infrastructure and a broad landscape.
Holiday centres, campsites and fishing areas operate nearby. Plan a walk, photography, fishing or a quiet break by a chosen section of shore. Facilities are not uniform, however, and access to bathing areas or rentals depends on the location.
Water levels can change considerably with water management, works and hydrological conditions. Check municipal notices, access, parking and current rules for using the shore and water before travelling. Keep out of technical zones around the dam and areas marked as protected. You can combine the lake with sightseeing in Otmuchów or Paczków.
