Lakes
Kamińsko, Greater Poland
Lake Kamińskie by the village of Kamińsko is a forest ribbon lake in the Zielonka Forest Landscape Park, in the municipality of Murowana Goślina. In summer it draws visitors with a bathing area on the official list for the 2026 season; out of season it offers quiet, pine forest and cycle routes. It is one of the easiest ways to spend a day by the water near Poznań.
The lake covers about 20 ha, and its surface lies at about 83 m above sea level. It fills a glacial channel running from north-west to south-east. A ditch connects it with Lakes Czarne and Pławno, and the whole system forms a closed basin with no outflow. That is why the water level fluctuates: between the 1970s and 2000 the surface dropped by about 2.4 m. The shores are only partly accessible and marshy in places; the "Mokradła nad jeziorem Kamińsko" ecological site, covering 5.57 ha, is protected by the lake.
The village itself was founded in the 18th century during Dutch-style (Olęder) colonisation, as Kamińskie or Pławińskie Olędry. Today it hosts field research stations of the Poznań University of Life Sciences.
"Kąpielisko w Kamińsku" is on the list of bathing areas in the Warta water region for the 2026 season: 27 June to 31 August. The Greater Poland Landscape Parks authority lists it among the supervised bathing areas in the Zielonka Forest. Outside the season, swimming is unsupervised and at your own risk. Current information on water quality and facilities is published by the bathing-water service of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.
The Zielonka Forest is home to one of Poland's largest populations of fallow deer, as well as red deer and roe deer; beavers have settled in the river valleys. Right next door are two reserves: the botanical Jezioro Czarne and the landscape reserve Jezioro Pławno. Plants include round-leaved sundew and carnivorous bladderworts – a good goal for nature lovers who prefer watching to swimming.
