Hala Boracza

Above Żabnica and Węgierska Górka, on the pass below Redykalny Wierch (998 m), lies Hala Boracza (860 m) — a Beskid meadow with the PTTK hut at 854 m, one of the oldest in the Żywiec Beskids. It is a rare case of a hala you can drive to: an asphalt road leads here from the Żabnica Skałka hamlet.

A hut with a history

The first hut on the meadow opened in 1928 as a wooden building that burned down in 1932. The present one, built of masonry in 1934, still stands — its façade clad in timber to blend into the mountain scenery. Inside you will find double and multi-bed rooms, a dining room, a fireplace lounge and a ski rental (a small lift operates nearby in winter); the hut offers accommodation and food; check the operator’s current service hours and rules. In summer, the meadow may retain a pastoral character.

Trails in every direction

The hala is a node: the blue trail runs from Węgierska Górka via Prusów (3 hours) and from Rajcza (3 hours), the black trail from Żabnica Skałka is a short approach (1 h 10 min), the green trail from Milówka takes 2 h 15 min, and further along the ridge you arrive from Hala Lipowska in 1.5 hours. Combining Boracza with Hala Bieguńska and Lipowska makes one of the finest ridge walks in the Żywiec Beskids.

In practicernReach the area by train to Węgierska Górka on the Żywiec–Zwardoń line. The shortest approach follows the black trail from Żabnica along the Żabniczanka stream. In winter check snow conditions; in summer book ahead.
