Experyment Science Center

The Experyment Science Center in Gdynia (pronounced roughly "ex-PEH-ri-ment") is a hands-on science museum in the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in the Redłowo district – a place where you don't just look at exhibits but touch, test and play with them. It is one of the top things to do in the Tri-City with kids and ideal for a rainy day. The newest exhibitions are "Magnesto," about magnetism, and "Secrets of the Deep," about life in the ocean depths.

About the center

Experyment opened on June 1, 2007, as one of Poland's first interactive science centers. In 2012 it became an independent municipal cultural institution, and on September 7–8, 2013, it reopened in a new glass building in the technology park, with seven times more exhibition space.

What to see

• Magnesto – 10 interactive stations on magnetism, from lodestones to an electromagnetic accelerator and magnet races.
• Secrets of the Deep – more than 40 exhibits, including detailed models of the vampire squid and the Dumbo octopus, plus glowing green jellyfish – the animals in which scientists found the protein behind a Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Parts of the space are deliberately dark, which some young children may find intense.
• Hydroworld (Hydroświat) – everything about water.
• Invisible Forces – the physics you can't see.
• Action Human, Health Direction and Tree of Life – the body, health and nature.

The center also runs science shows and workshops for families and adults; check the website for dates. Signs are mainly in Polish, but most exhibits work by trying them out.

Visiting tips

Plan about 2 hours. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The exhibitions are on the ground floor and the building is step-free; "Health Direction" is fully wheelchair accessible and has audio description. It can get noisy, so noise-canceling headphones are available to borrow at the ticket desks. Assistance dogs are welcome. There is a snack area where you can eat your own food, plus a bistro and a science shop near the entrance. Is it worth visiting? With school-age children, definitely.

Opening hours and tickets (as of October 2026)

• Tuesday–Friday 9 am–6 pm, Saturday–Sunday 10 am–7 pm; closed Mondays. Ticket desks close one hour before closing time.
• Closed on November 1, December 24–26 and January 1.
• Tickets: 35 PLN regular, 25 PLN reduced/group, 85 PLN family (2 adults + 1 child) plus 20 PLN per extra person (up to 6).
• Happy Hours: Fridays after 3 pm, tickets cost 15 PLN.

How to get there

The center is at al. Zwycięstwa 96/98. Take the SKM commuter train to Gdynia Redłowo or the PKM train to Gdynia Stadion, or city buses and trolleybuses to the "Centrum Nauki Experyment" stop. From central Gdańsk the SKM ride to Gdynia takes about 30 minutes; Gdańsk airport is around 23 km away. Parking on site is paid (first 20 minutes free, then 4 PLN per hour) and limited; a larger city lot is a 10–15-minute walk away by Gdynia Arena.
